Every frame was treated as an opportunity to showcase Kamalhassan the actor. There were so many scenes (like the one where he lets his hair down and practices shooting a gun) that were <em>so</em> not needed. A better editor could have made a much better movie out of it. However, Kamal seems to have matured a lot since then and Virumandi was a very good effort. Hey Ram was a study in narcissistic excess.
