About

We love Vonnegut (and the royal we) at Etcetera, and at least in our minds, we write to please just ourselves.  Especially because we got a day job where we do enough pleasing.

I am an Indian engineer (yawn!) in Florida that was fortunate enough to have grown up in a family that loved books. And thanks to Carver, Le Carre, Stephenson, Gibson, Illayaraja, my daughter Shriya and wife Lavanya, I can love like I’ve never been hurt before.

Work like you don’t need the money;
dance like no one is watching;
sing like no one is listening;
love like you’ve never been hurt;
and live life every day as if it were your last.

  1. Hi

    You are reviving Wodehousian humor. I like it. Your site is fully loaded with fun, vareity and celebration. How can you be an Engineer and a connoisseur at the same time? Keep it up.

    Cheers
    BBMAN

  2. Your site design is b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l! Did you pick this up from a template or design it yourself?

  3. Pavithra, thanks. The site is based on a template called Quentin and I tweaked the fonts to look this way, and changed sidebar completely based on a template called Chocolate. The comments form is from the Manji template.

  4. Considering your love for all things by Illayaraja, I would recommend you listen to two songs he wrote for a Malayalam movie called Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal. Ghanashyama Vrindavangal and Sivatharadamaru are the two I’m referring to, in case you haven’t already heard them, are really beautiful. Other than that, I’m not really a fan of his songs at all. For me his music sort of belongs in the 90s, ie. not electronically wired enough, as the music of a predecessor to Rahman.

  5. Looks like some Menu of a Punjabi hatti.

    But your posts are Kadhai Paneer and Tandoori Roti.

    Being a veg helps in typing just veg.

    Keep cooking.

  6. Great post…hilarious. btw dude, are u nari..batch of 2004, ntu? Ritwik here…your junior by a year if I’m not mistaken about your identity. Good blog.

  7. sorry man, commented on the wrog post. intended the comment for the latest post ‘dinner of the absurd’.

  8. Ritwik, thanks. And no, I am not Nari…sorry.

  9. […] These words, casually typed by Karthik while we were chatting a couple of months ago, sent me on a hunt around the city for a DVD of the movie. Since my Telugu is not really that good (okay, I don’t know anything beyond champesthaanu and me kosam!), I had to find one with English subtitles. […]
